In a jewellery box you have one red, one green and one white chip. Unlike the others, the white chip has a hole in the middle. The hole is actually there - it is not an optical illusion - you can look straight through it.
You place the green and white chips in your hand, close your hand to make a fist and ask the audience what you have in your hand: The answer will be "one green chip and a white chip with a hole." You remove the white chip with the hole and put it back in the box. "And now?" The answer: "You have a green chip in your hand and a white chip in the box." You open your hand and the audience sees: The green chip has turned into a white chip with a hole, and your hand is otherwise empty!
You repeat the game. This time it is the red chip together with a white chip with hole. "What do I have in my hand?" "A red chip and a white chip with hole," will be the answer. You remove the white chip with hole. "And now?" "The red chip, of course," says the audience. You open your fist and the spectators see the green chip. The red chip has therefore turned into a green chip!
You repeat the procedure once more. Put the green solid chip and the white chip with hole in your hand, and now, in this third variation , the third chip also turns into a white chip with a hole in the middle.
All three chips may be examined immediately, and the spectators may even put their fingers through the holes.
